Mr. Norman is excited to wear purple again - a color he hasn't worn since graduating from Borne High School, "some" years ago! He comes to us from Clear Brook High School, where he served as the Associate Director of Bands for the past four years. He is also a graduate of the University of Houston and has a Master's from Sam Houston State University.
Mr. Norman served previously as the Assistant Director of Bands at Clear Creek Intermediate School and the Head Band Director of Alvin Junior High, where he served for over a decade.
Mr. Norman's accolades include four consecutive appearances at the UIL 6A
State Marching Band contest, as well as numerous marching band competition finalist appearances and caption awards. As a concert band director, Mr.
Norman's bands are consistent UIL Sweepstakes Award winners and was even a TEA Honor Band Finalist when he was the Head Director at Alvin Junior High.
Individual musicians also flourish under Mr. Norman's mentorship, increasing all-region and all-state numbers in all the programs he has taught. Many of Mr.
Norman's students have gone on to play in college bands, become music majors, and he even has a few alumni actively teaching as band directors!
In his free time, Mr. Norman is an avid roller coaster enthusiast, having visited theme parks across the country, from California to New Jersey, even Canada and ridden over 100 individual roller coasters. He cant wait to start his 17th year in the classroom with the Ridge Point Band, which promises to be a roller coaster ride in and of itself!
