Eric Weingartner is finishing his 15th year teaching, and second year at Ridge Point High
School. Before moving to RPHS he was at James E. Taylor High School in Katy, Texas where
he was an Assistant Band Director for five years. Mr. Weingartner teaches Marching Band,
Concert Band, and Wind Ensemble at Ridge Point High School.
While at Taylor High School Mr. Weingartner taught the Concert Band (fall only), Symphonic
Band (year round), JV Band, Beginning Low Brass at McMeans Junior High, and assisted with
the JET Band. Every Symphonic Band under his direction received straight 1’s at UIL Concert
and Sight Reading since 2018. The JET Band was a UIL State Marching Contest participant in
2018 and 2023, as well as a consistent finalist at Houston Bands of America Regionals.
Prior to moving to Texas, Eric was the Associate Director of Bands at Homestead High School
in Cupertino, CA. While at Homestead the Mighty Mustang Marching Band was a Bands of
America Grand National Semi-Finalist, Macy’s Parade Participant, Rose Parade Participant, and
a consecutive medalist band in WBA Grand Championships in 2016 and 2017.
Eric was the Brass Caption Head for Blue Devils ‘B’ from 2012-2018 with Best Brass
Performance awards at DCI Open Class Championships in 2014 and 2016. From 2014-2018, he
was also on brass staff with the Blue Devils ‘A’ Drum and Bugle Corps.
Eric began his undergraduate degree at Arizona State where he studied with renowned tubist,
Sam Pilafian. He then transferred to Butler University and graduated with his bachelor’s degree
in instrumental music education in 2010.
While in Northern California, Eric taught tuba and euphonium lessons and his students earned
spots in the San Francisco Youth Orchestra, CBDA All-State Jr. High and High School Honor
Bands, NAfME National Honor Ensembles, as well as the Santa Clara County Honor Band.
Outside of music Mr. Weingartner is a husband to his wife Kellie. They met marching drum
corps together in 2007 and have been together since. They have two cats named Henry and
Rigby who are very spoiled. They are avid basketball fans and root for the Golden State
Warriors! Mr. Weingartner is also extremely passionate about making great coffee. In his spare
time he also enjoys taking drone footage around Houston and trying new places to eat!
Eric’s professional affiliations include NAfME, TMEA, and the Texas Bandmasters Association.
